New Ultra Wide-angle Zoom Lens From Tamron

Tamron Company (Commack, NY) President, Morio Ono, recently introduced the new SP AF10–24mm f/3.5–4.5 Di II LD Aspherical (IF) lens. The new lens has an unprecedented 2.4X zoom ratio, which makes it the 35mm equivalent of a 16–37mm zoom lens. Among its other new features is an optical design that minimizes peripheral light fall-off while confining the changing angles of incidence that light rays reach the imager over the entire image field. It also features special optical glass materials; a compact, lightweight design; and a minimum focusing distance of 9.4 inches across the zoom range. The new lens is intended exclusively for Canon and Nikon digital SLRs with APS-C-sized image sensors. Pentax and Sony mount models will be announced at a later date.
