New 300mm Telephoto and Teleconverter from Nikon
Nikon (Melville, NY, www.nikonusa.com) recently introduced the AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/2.8G ED VR II super telephoto lens and the AF-S Teleconverter TC-20E III. Designed to deliver excellent edge-to-edge sharpness, the new lens features Vibration Reduction (VR) II, which gives users the ability to shoot up to four shutter speeds slower than otherwise possible. The new lens also has a new A/M mode for fast switching between automatic and manual focusing, and it features three Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements for outstanding image quality. The new NIKKOR teleconverter doubles the focal length of attached lenses and is the world’s first lens with an aspherical element, which essentially eliminates aberrations, even at wide apertures. Both compatible with FX and DX-format DSLR cameras, the new 300mm NIKKOR lens has an estimated cost of $5,899.95; the teleconverter costs $499.95.
